Water spots on my louis vuitton natural leather handbag??!!?
I have the Cabas Ambre handbag and it had water spots on the leather. Is there any thing that I can do to get rid of it? Please help!
You do not need to purchase a new handbag - What a stupid answer!
If you choose to, Louis Vuitton will replace the leather for you - This can cost you a bit of money, but it may be worth it.
Only Louis Vuitton can give you a proper estimate, but it can range from $100.00 to several hundred dollars. I have had this done (and many other repairs) - I would estimate the cost to be around $200.00 - $250.00 for your bag.
If you choose to take the matter into your own hands…
First use a baby wipe - Clean the leather with this and see if you are happy with the results. This will not damage your leather, but it may darken it slightly.
If the results are not drastic enough..
Try using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Use it lightly over the spot and do not apply too much force as the eraser is slightly abrasive.
After you have cleaned the leather to your satisfaction - You need to condition the leather. I suggest the "Leather Rejuvenator" from www.Griotsgarage.com - This is what I use, it is an amazing product.
Just take your time with the entire process and do not rush it.
Also, high-quality fakes use oxidizing leather - This is not a method in which to tell an authentic bag from a fake one.
Louis Vuitton leather (Vachetta) is untreated cowhide and this is why it stains and why water spots appear. The water is absorbed into the pores of the leather as it is unfinished and not lacquered as the leather on many other handbags is. As long as you take care of the leather, the bag will last you generations.
Good-luck!

nope, buy a new one thats the only thing you can do,… you can also go to a LV store and ask them but I am sure they'll answer the same thing.

This happened to my moms leather purse as well. You clean water spots on leather with water. You don't need to buy a new one! The cleaning might not be perfect but it certainly doesn't mean you need to buy another four hundred dollar purse!
"Water spots can be removed from leather by moistening the area again with a little water, let it dry or gently blow dry. Never place leather in the sun to dry."

This happens with all LV leather (and other brands as well) Actually, this is an easy way to tell the authentic bags from the fake's…those fake one's don't get discolored or water marks because the leather isn't real. If I were you I would take it to my local LV store and get advice from them. The website has some cleaning advice, but not exactly for the area of your concern. You do need to know that if you bring the handbag to any generic repair shop LV will no longer touch it.
